Metal futures: Zinc breaches $2,600/t

Three-month zinc on the London Metal Exchange (LME) breached the $2,600/t-mark in Thursday's official morning session while the wider base metal complex broadly rose. The three-month LME zinc contract climbed by 1.9pc to $2,604.50/t, its highest price since May 2019. Contangoes for zinc in the Dec-Dec forward curve wid- ened to $35/t from $31/t over the past 24 hours, while the benchmark cash-to-three-month tightened to a contango of $9.87/t from $10.75/t over the same time frame.
