Indian Cu imports down by a quarter

Indian copper imports fell by 27pc on the year in April- August as Covid-19 eroded demand. Domestic output fell by over a quarter. The country imported 43,923t of refined copper cath- odes, down from 59,925t a year earlier. Shipments from Japan fell by 21pc to 40,004t. In April 2019-March 2020, imports rose to 142,322t, up from 83,823t in April 2018-March 2019, according to customs data. Exports fell to 25,780t from 47,560t. N^Samil Surendran
