Jinchuan launches Ruashi Cu-Co mine project

Major Chinese copper-cobalt-nickel producer Jinchuan Group has commissioned its Ruashi copper-cobalt mine project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The 600,000 t/yr mineral separation expansion and transformation project comprises a floatation and magnetic separation plant, which will utilise a stockpile of 5mn t of low-grade oxidised ore to produce cobalt hydroxide feedstock and process mixed and sulphide ore through the flotation process to produce copper-cobalt sulphide concentrates. Ruashi in the second half of 2020 started construction of the plant. The mine is an open-pit mining operation in the DRC and began production of copper cathode and cobalt hydroxide in 2009.
