Huayou’s Indonesia Ni JV begins trial production

Chinese cobalt refiner and lithium nickel-cobalt-manganese oxide (NCM) precursor producer Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt said today that its PT Huayue nickel and cobalt smelting joint venture in Indonesia has successfully delivered its first output on recently commencing trial production. The venture, in which Huayou has an alliance with stainless steel and nickel giant Tsingshan Holding Group and major molybdenum producer China Molybdenum to produce battery grade raw materials, is the second of several Indonesian high-pressure acid leach (HPAL) projects in the spotlight and expected to reach the commissioning stage.
