Europe: SiMn falls on stock liquidation

Silico-manganese prices in Europe fell today as traders looked to liquidate stocks before the year-end. Meanwhile, ferro-silicon prices for forward delivery are moving down as the Chinese market softens, but the prompt spot market is still holding firm. Prices for high carbon alloy were unmoved from 11 November at $1.60-1.75/lb ddp amid tepid spot demand. Most end-users have secured supply for November ahead of time, which left market participants focused on negotiations for the first quarter. Logistical constraints remains a key concern, with suppliers citing the shortage of drivers as the main obstacle to fresh deals at the moment.
