Europe: LC FeCr rises on tight supply

Low carbon ferro-chrome prices continued to rise amid tight supply fuelled by increased buying activity in Asia. Meanwhile, offers for manganese alloys pushed upwards despite uncertainty about future downstream demand. Prices for high carbon alloy held firm today at $1.60-1.70/ lb delivered duty paid (ddp) with most market participants focused on long term contract negotiations, dampening spot trade. A trader sold a truckload of 65pc standard material at $1.61/lb, while charge chrome changed hands at $1.50-1.57/ lb. Demand remains strong, with end users calling up more than 100pc of their contractual volumes in some cases, but relatively high spot prices are deterring some buyers from booking extra top-ups.
