US Zn: Premiums push to new heights

US special high grade (SHG) zinc premiums continued to move higher in the spot market on tightening supply-side fundamentals and high freight rates. Argus assessed US special high-grade (SHG) zinc premiums at 14-18￠/lb, up from 9-15￠/lb last week and has moved higher three out of the past four weeks. Some dealers were reporting that they had nothing for sale in the spot market. The few who had SHG said that premiums were up on limited supply and expensive freight; consumers who need material sooner than normal leadtimes expected more than a 30￠/lb.
