MARINE DEVOTION

Neil Niru Dorrian's enthusiasm for his field is- understandable when you realise that he is one of thoselucky people to be living his childhood dream. "As a kid I watched a Star Trek film about saving humpback whales from extinction. That fired my imagination and I did everything to achieve my goal of working with marine mammals," he says. He not only studied marine biology at The University of Stirling, but spent his summers working on dolphin research projects, rescue programmes or as an assistant sea lion trainer. After graduating he went on to study conservation. "I've spent the past 10 years working on numerous environmental and research projects and also those looking at marine mammal health,"he recounts.
