Chinese Lead market commentary for the first half of 2006 and outlook for the future

Domestic price of refined lead and lead concentrate drew a growth picture boosted by the strong demand in the H1, 2006. Refined lead hit the record high at 13,000 yuan a tonne in Feb;2006. and the average price got to 11,169 yuan a tonne in H1, 2006, up by 19.1 percent compared with the same period of 2005. The increase of refined lead price pushed the lead concentrate price up. The average price of lead concentrate was 8.600 yuan a tonne in H1,2006, up by 16.1 percent year on year. The 60 percent grade of lead concentrate was quoted above 9,000 yuan a tonne in the tightest situation.
