The market for merchant pig iron narrowed significantly over 2012. The totalglobal trade in pig iron dropped by 19%, to 11.9 mt. The trend is expected topersist this year due to a fall in crude steel production. Regardless of weakerglobal demand, CIS exporters will manage to retain their share in suppliesthanks to lower production cost.
