Anglo American to Demerge Coal Business in South Africa on June 4

On May 26 local time, the High Court of Justice in England and Wales approved that Anglo American plc would assign the coal assets in South Africa to Thungela Resources Limited. Accordingly, Anglo American will assign all the coal assets in South Africa owned by the Company to Thungela Resources on June 4, and demerge the coal business in the said country. Thungela Resources will become a holding company of Anglo American and the shares in Thungela Resources will be distributed to the shareholders of Anglo American according to the shareholding ratio.
