China’s primary aluminum output reached 6.45 million mt in the first two months of the year, up 8.4% year on year, data released by the National Bureau of Statistics showed March 15. The country’s primary aluminum supply may increase slightly in March as domestic smelters would continue to put new capacity into operation at a slower pace and as the import arbitrage window opened, market sources said.
