Singapore—China’s primary aluminum output was a record high of 5.85 million mt over January-February, up 2.4% year on year, according to the latest data released by the country’s National Bureau of Statistics on Monday. This showed that the outbreak of the coronavirus, or COVID-19, had little impact on aluminum production. Most aluminum smelters maintained normal production during the January- February period and some new capacity began operating at the end of last year, which contributed to the increase in the output, market sources said.
