Sinopec Touts Launch of China's 'First' Megaton-Scale Carbon Capture Project

Beijing— Sinopec recently announced the initiation of China's "first" megaton carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) project, the Sinopec Qilu-Shengli Oilfield CCUS. The project consists of two parts - Sinopec Qilu's carbon dioxide capture and Shengli Oilfield's carbon dioxide displacement and storage. It is estimated to reduce carbon emissions by 1-million t/y. Operations are expected to begin by the end of this year.
