India's Tata Steel records 3% on year rise in Oct-Dec output on firmer demand

Singapore—India’s Tata Steel saw its October to December 2020 crude steel production rise to 7.20 million mt, up 3% from 6.99 million mt year on year and 7% from 6.73 million mt quarter on quarter, the steelmaker said Feb. 9. The firmer third quarter output for the fiscal year 2020-21 (April-March) was due to a recovery in most steel-consuming sectors, Tata Steel said, citing factors such as economic recovery and government spending. Domestic crude steel production rose to 4.60 million mt for Q3, up from 4.47 million mt year on year and a bit firmer from 4.59 million mt in Q2.
