Royal Dutch Shell has pledged to achieve net-zero carbon emissions for all of the energy products it sells by 2050, but it stopped short of setting hard limits on its emissions that would require a more rapid retreat from oil and gas production. At its much anticipated Strategy Day on Thursday, Shell also outlined plans to spend more on carbon capture and storage (CCS) and nature-based carbon mitigation solutions, as well as doubling the amount of electricity it sells this decade.
