Strategies to Meet Potassium Needs of Crops for Optimum Production

I am very grateful to the Indian Society of Soil Science for giving me the opportunity to deliver this very important Memorial lecture. I had the rare opportunity to work under the able guidance of Dr. G. S. Sekhon for about 5 years at the Potassium Research Institute of India (PRII), Gurgaon which he conceived and established in 1977. The PRII under his very able, dynamic and visionary leadership provided new impetus and direction to potassium (K) research in the country. By virtue of quality international publications and scientific activities, within a short span of time the institute received international recognition, wide acclaim and also trained a bunch of scientists in frontier areas of K research. His scientific temper, ethics and integrity, discipline, punctuality and efficiency are exemplary and worth emulation. I am really privileged to deliver this important lecture named after my mentor and pay homage to him.
