RHS show allocations and declines for 2019 have arrived with exhibitors, along with updated plant health rules. A traffic light system suggested at a Highgrove biosecurity meeting in January could yet mean that some trees do not have to undergo quarantining for 12 months before supply to gardens at RHS shows.The RHS is believed to want to introduce a quarantine on trees from 2020, which some suppliers say is a "massive ask" because the trees would have to be paid for a year before they are sold to designers—and looking after them would have to be resourcedtoo, making using big trees at Chelsea "unworkable". Hortus Loci chief executive Mark Straver says neither option is a good one and a green traffic light tree health system might be a good idea.
