DAF Trucks looks to increase production and sales in Brazil

Brazil - With a clear and positive upswing in the market, DAF Trucks is aiming to expand its sales and is planning to almost double its market share from 4% currently to 7% by 2019, according to Luis Gambini, commercial director at DAF Trucks Brasil Ltda. The DAF Trucks' plant in Ponta Grossa, State of Parana, is currently operating at 25% of its installed capacity, said Gambini. In one shift, the company is currently producing five trucks a day, when it could be producing 20 in three. However, he said, the market conditions today were such that demand had increased and it would be producing around seven trucks a day shortly until December. Gambini said DAF sales activities had seen a significant improvement this year up to the end of August with a total of 536 trucks sold; a 30.3% increase in volume compared with the same period in 2016.
