MKT: Statistics - Light-duty bus: LCV bus sales fall 64% in Q2

India - Sales of light-duty buses (7.5t & below) declined by 64.1% to register 3,763 units in Q2 of FY2020 from 10,471 units Q2 of FY2019. Production decreased by more than half and by 53.5% from 10,503 units to 4,887 units; exports fell too and by 74.3% from 1,251 units to 322 units, during the respective periods. In the minibus segment with more than 13 seats (GVW ≤ 5 tons no. of seats including the driver exceeding 13) sales slumped by 65.1% to 1,633 units in Q2 of FY2020-21 from 4,684 units in Q2 of FY 2019- 20. The statistics show sales at Tata Motors having collapsed from more than 2,000 units in Q2 last year to just 43 units this last quarter! Production mirrored the downturn in sales, down by 53.5%, whereas exports were almost non-existent with sales of just one vehicle!
