Green metals - opportunities and challenges

Renewable energy, particularly wind and solar, and transportation involving electric cars are developing rapidly driven in part by climate change mitigation. These technologies require a broad suite of metals and dramatic growth in the markets for these metals is anticipated (e.g. World Bank, 2017). Given their importance to the green economy, these commodities have been termed green metals.
