Semen was collected directly from the reproductive tracts of 15 slaughtered Czech Pied bulls. Bovine seminal ribonuclease (BS RNase) concentration was measured using a sensitive sandwich-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The ampullary and seminalvesicle BS RNase concentrations were 656μg/ml and 1285μg/ml, respectively. BS RNase concentration was also measured in 10 ejaculates collected from each of 22 breeding bulls. BS RNase concentration in seminal fluid (1132μg/ml) was slightly lower thanthat in the seminal vesicles. There were no significant differences in the concentration of the enzyme in seminal plasma from 16 bulls ranked as having high and low fertility.
