Aus government sees higher met coal, ore exports but softer prices

The Australian metallurgical coal and iron ore markets look set to be marked by rising export volumes and sliding prices over the next couple of years, the country's chief economist said in its latest Resources and Energy Quarterly report. Australian met coal posted record high earnings of A$38 billion ($37 billion) in the 2017-2018 (July-June) fiscal year. But earnings are tipped to fall by 3.8% in the current fiscal to A$36 billion, weighed down by softer prices, offset by higher production and export volumes.
