China finished steel exports in April surge to four-year high

China's finished steel exports in April increased by 26% on the year to 7.973 million mt, the highest level since January 2017, according to China's customs data. Export volumes in May and June are likely to retreat from April's level, but could still be higher than the level of May 2020 at 4.4 million mt, some market sources said. According to customs data, China's daily finished steel exports in April were up by 9% compared with March. Over JanuaryApril, its finished steel exports increased 5.05 million mt, or 25%, year on year to 25.654 million mt.
