Effect of Bacterial Leaf Blight on Grain Yield of Paddy Cultivars

Twelve paddy cultivars differed considerably in their susceptibility and losses in grain yield due to bacterial leaf blight (Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae). The reduction in yield varied between 1.9 to 33.6%. It was minimum in HKR 97-39, PR 116 and PR109 (1.9-3.1 %), while maximum in HKR 46 (33.6%) followed by PR 106 (25.3%). A highly positive correlation was oberved between disease severity and reduction in grain yield of different paddy cultivars (r=0.879).
