Interactions between plants, microbes and invertebrate animals are commonplace in nature, but we still seem to know little about them. Recent studies have provided surprises and remind us how important it is to understand the networks of biological interactions. This is essential if we are to be successful in integrated pest management (IPM) and in the improvement of crop productivity and quality.
