Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one the leading causes of death in the United States. Approximately 13 million people in the United States have been diagnosed as having CAD. Approximately 7.1 million people have a myocardial infarction every year, resulting in 494,382 deaths annually. Primary and secondary CAD prevention strategies are rapidly advancing as our knowledge of this potentially fatal disease improves.
