摘要

The whole concept of green economy is based on Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), one of the key agreements adopted during the Earth Summit held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. A number of "silent springs" have occurred in taking steps towards mitigating the problems of global warming, afforestation and deforestation, declining water availability, biosafety from genetically modified (GM) crops and over exploitation of natural resources. Starting from TRIPs (1994). The TZyoto Protocol (December 1997). The Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (2000). The Gran Canaria Declaration calling for a Global Plant Conservation Strategy (2002). The National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAP), Bio prospecting, Carbon tax or Eco tax, Ecotourism, Environmental tariff, Carbon trading, Carbon dieting, Environmental pricing reform. The Nagoya Protocol on Access & Benefit Sharing (ABS) (29 October 2010), ban on Environment Modification Convention (2010). The International Tear of Biodiversity (2010), The International Day for Biological Diversity (22 May 2012) etc. However, the developing countries want a single legally binding treaty, while the developed countries are more interested in the ABS protocol in every aspect.
