German government backs ban on self-service sale of biocides

The German federal government has passed a national law that will ban the self-service sale of several types of biocidal products from 1 January 2025 in an attempt to ensure consumers are aware of any potential risks that using the products can pose. In a cabinet meeting on 12 May, the government approved an Ordinance that will revise existing national rules for biocides, which complement the EU biocidal products Regulation (BPR).
