UK Lords urge ministers to ‘do all they can’ for REACH data access

In a last-minute attempt to avert mounting data costs for UK industry after Brexit, a House of Lords committee has written to ministers urging them to "do all they can" to secure a data-sharing agreement with the European Union. The EU environment sub-committee of the House of Lords, the second, unelected, chamber of the UK Parliament, said it heard evidence that "greatly concerned us" about data costs and other issues around UK REACH – parallel legislation the government will activate from 1 January, with ministers warning there will be some divergence from EU rules in the future.
