摘要

A recently published study looking at deaths linked to methylene chloride could encourage the EPA to take more aggressive action as it develops a TSCA rule to manage unreasonable risks posed by the solvent. The study - published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Internal Medicine on 19 April - concluded that methylene chloride exposure led to 85 deaths from 1980 to 2018, mostly involving workers. That figure is 60% higher than the 53 total deaths that the agency attributed to the solvent over a similar timeframe when it banned use in consumer paint removers in a 2019 rule.
