Scott Faber, Environmental Working Group's senior vice president for government affairs, examines the risks posed by chemicals found in personal care products. Chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food, water and many other everyday products. But no category of consumer products is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal care products. Every day, Americans use products that have not been tested for safety. Every day, women use an average of 12 different personal care products, containing 168 unique ingredients. On average, men use six.
