Cosmetic Spray Safety Assessment Rarely Needs Particle-Size Data? CIR Panel Weighs NGO Criticism

Cosmetic Ingredient Review and Women’s Voices for the Earth still seem to be on diferent pages regarding an ap- propriately protective, science-based framework for assess- ing the safety of aerosol products/ingredients, a topic up for dis- cussion at the CIR Expert Panel’s Dec. 3-4 meeting in Washington. CIR is in the process of revising its Aerosols Precedent docu- ment, intended as a backgrounder on evaluating the safety of ingredients used in cosmetic sprays and powders and a reference explaining the reasoning behind previous Expert Panel decisions.
