Russian steelmakers and construction companies sign direct agreements for long steel

Russia’s steel producers and construction companies started signing direct contracts with formula pricing. Such a mechanism will help mitigate sharp peaks of quote fluctuations and stabilize prices to consumers by removing traders from the sales chain. A shift to direct contracts was one of the alternatives suggested by the Russian government instead of export duties on square billet and rebar.
