One to watch

I used to worry about the word artist. I wasn't wild and free; I didn't move in cool circles and was far too much of a nerd. Then as my work continued and improved, I changed my mind and now if anyone asks, I tell them I'm an artist. However, I would say that the tools of my art are two very different crafts. The craftness of what I make is intrinsic, because it implies a certain rigorous discipline, which I attempt to imbue my pieces with. I see my work as the answer to the question: "What is real?' and in order to investigate the world and the 'real', you have to be objective, focused and careful - and craft provides that in spades.
