Australian Woodside sees profit move lower

Sydney—Woodside Petroleum, Australia’s largest listed oil and gas company, August 22 posted a net profit of $812 million for the first half of 2012, down 1.9% from a year ago, due in part to costs related to the startup of the Pluto LNG project. Underlying net profit after tax, discounting the one-offs, was $865 million, up 4.5% from $828 million in the first half of 2011.
