Lithuania Tackles LNG Terminal Economics

Less than 18 months after opening, Lithuania's LNG terminal on the Baltic Sea has exceeded expectations. But low gas prices and underutilization are now forcing the government to consider ways to improve the terminal's economics. Terminal director Tadas Matulionis told International Oil Daily on Tuesday that since mid-February the facility has supplied "more than 90%" of Lithuania's gas needs, a rate that should continue through end-October. The LNG is supplied by Norway's Statoil (IOD Jan.26'16).
