Japan to Lose More Refining Capacity

Japan will permanently lose an additional 43,000 b/d of refining capacity on Mar. 31 after Cosmo announced a reduction at its 155,000 b/d Yokkaichi refinery. This will bring total permanent closures in Japan to 445,000 b/d by the end of March. Cosmo's Yokkaichi refinery will drop to a capacity of 112,000 b/d on Mar. 31, reducing the refiner's total refining capacity from 495,000 b/d now, down to 452,000 b/d, Cosmo said in a statement.
