US EPA to approve Evolva’s nootkatone biopesticide for manufacturing

The US EPA has proposed the approval of the plant extract, nootkatone, from Swiss sustainable technology company Evolva (Rienach). The insect repellent is for use against biting insects and ticks and would be a new active ingredient in the US. The application was for a manufacturing-use product only and the Agency says that it has no applications to register consumer products containing nootkatone. If interested companies submit a registration package, new products based on nootkatone could be available as early as 2022, it adds.
