Pepper is one of the widely grown vegetable crops in the world. Many pests and pathogens cause to yield loses in pepper. One of the most important diseases in the pepper production is spotted wilt disease caused by Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV). The best way for the control of the disease is to use resistant cultivars. The aim of this study was to transfer the TSWV resistant gene to pepper lines by using TSWV resistant pepper cultivars. Commercial hybrid cultivars resistant to TSWV were crossed with susceptible Serademre 8. The resistance tests were performed by both mechanical inoculation and molecular methods. Virulent strain isolated from infected pepper plants was used as an inoculum material in the mechanical inoculations. Resistance test was performed for 72 lines in F6 generations. A total of 1065 plants from 72 lines were tested and determined 1017 plants as homozygote resistance.
