Atlantic metallurgical coal spot prices rose Monday followingstrong upward momentum in the premium HCC market in Asia-Pacific.An extended outage at the North Goonyella premium mid-vol HCCmine in Australia is being expected by the market. Operator PeabodyEnergy said over the weekend that the mine will not produce duringthe fourth quarter as it battles to control a fire, and while output at themine hit 2.9 million st, this year a longwall move had been planned.
