This review was solicited by me from John P. Geyman, MD. He is the professor emeritus of family medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle, where he served as the Chairman from 1976 to 1990. He was the founding editor of the Journal of Family Practice (1973-90) and the editor of the Journal of the American Board of Family Practice (1990-2003). During the past decade and a half, he has written >10 books on healthcare delivery in the United States, and his latest is mentioned in this book review. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a controversial matter, as is the book being reviewed and perhaps even this book review. However, I believe, as do some others, that it is the topic that deserves the attention of all anesthesiologists. This book and the topic were the subject of a cover story in Time magazine in January of this year.
