Report: Petrobras may not sell Braskem interest, could even double stake

Energy group Petrobras (Rio de Janeiro) may abandon plans to sell shares in Braskem (Sao Paulo) and could even double its stake in the company, according to Bloomberg. Petrobras put its stake in Braskem up for sale in 2016 as part of a wider divestment plan. In June this year, Odebrecht, the controlling shareholder of Braskem, and LyondellBasell entered exclusive discussions regarding a potential transaction between LyondellBasell and Braskem. Petrobras holds a 36% share in Braskem while Odebrecht has a 38.1% controlling stake in the petrochemicals company.
