Yara reports loss in second quarter, EBITDA down on higher gas costs in Europe

Yara International, a major producer of fertilizers, today reported lower second-quarter results on higher energy costs. The company reported a net loss after noncontrolling interest of $211 million compared with a net income of $82 million in the year-earlier quarter. Revenue and other income rose 15.7% to $3.19 billion. Secondquarter EBITDA excluding special items was $321 million, down 5% compared with a year earlier as higher deliveries and sales prices were offset by higher European gas costs.
