Praxair to sell European assets to Taiyo Nippon Sanso

Praxair says that, in accordance with its proposed merger with Linde, it has signed an agreement to sell a majority of its business- es in Europe to Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corp. (TNSC; Tokyo, Japan), the industrial gases subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings. The purchase price for the transaction is ?5 billion ($5.9 billion) and is subject to customary adjustments at closing. The divested businesses together generated sales of approximately ?1.3 billion in 2017. “We are taking a constructive approach to address regula- tory concerns with the merger in the European Economic Area,” says Steve Angel, Praxair chairman and CEO.
