As chemical output continues to rise, driven by the industry's sustained investment over recent years in new capacities to meet expanding end-user demand, storage companies are responding. Some are providing new facilities and others are expanding existing ones, with many companies doing both. Virtually all are signaling a general shift toward an increasingly lower-carbon focus on lighter products, namely gas and chemicals, and away from crude oil and refined products. This worldwide wave of storage expansion, some of it complete and much of the rest under construction or firmly scheduled for implementation, will be largely available before the end of 2022.
