摘要

It is common knowledge that in today's regulatory environment, growers need to be active in maintaining an efficient pest control application program. Aside from the obvious problem of spray drift, it is cost effective to make sure your spray coverage is as accurate as possible. For some growers, this goal is within reach. At USDA's Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Southeastern Fruit and Tree Nut Research Lab in Byron, GA, researcher Ted Cottrell has been the lead scientist on a project designedto get good coverage on peach trees for control of greater and lesser peach tree borer, a common problem in the Southeast. So far, the project has been a huge success, with great potential for savings in both chemical and labor costs, and further applications of the project are evident.
