Paul Duddy believes trimming and shoeing in Ireland isn't that much different than working in North America. Maybe with one major exception: extremely wel weather, which often causes a horse's hooves to sink 6 to 8 inches into wel grass. Even so. onceagain it's the basics of trimming and shoeing that really matter, regardless of the kind of horses you do or where you work. As Duddy points out, so is the need for proper farrier training and continuing education. With the Irish weather almost always on the wet side, the farrier from Strabane in Northern Ireland says this requires providing horses with plenty of traction.
