This paper describes a performance evaluation results of the QoS routing protocol (QOSPF) on the proposed IP-QoS traffic engineering system. In a large scale network, the conventional QOSPF has performance bottlenecks due to increases of both flooding processing overhead and QoS path computation delay. Thus, we have proposed to extend QOSPF to support hierarchical QoS routing. To evaluate the performance of the proposed QOSPF, we have implemented an MPLS/IF network simulator that can create hundreds of MPLS/IP nodes environment in any network topology. As expected, the proposed hierarchical QOSPF reduces the processing overhead much more than a flat QOSPF. In terms of QoS path computation, we propose a new "area-scope on-demand computation" seheme that contributes to significantly reduce the path computation delay on area border routers. Furthermore, given that QOSPF is used on a network where nodes are interconnected by multiple logical links (e.g. WDM lambdas), we propose a new "link aggregation" scheme that also improves the QOSPF path computation delay.
