Mobility and locality: capturing characteristics in regional mobile Internet use patterns

摘要

The mobile Internet penetrates into the regional every day's life in Japan. The mobility makes the user's Internet behavior seamlessly available in any place. At the same time, the mobility also reflects the direct mapping to the diversity of the local lives. These two aspects, mobility and locality, are intertwined, and show the unique characteristics of the mobile Internet behavior in the real world. The author makes an attempt to identify the wide diversity in the mobile Internet use scenes in the long-term observation of mobile Internet services. From the preliminary study, the regional diversity in the mobile Internet observed is similar to that in the wired Internet. In addition, the issues in clustering of the regional use patterns are discussed in a case study.
